JEE Main 2020 Admission Details

JEE Mains is a national level examination for admission into National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) for courses like B.E, B.Tech, B.Plan and B.Arch programmes. It is also an eligibility test for JEE Advanced for admission into Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Until 2018, JEE Main was on the first week of April by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It was held both online and offline. From 2019 it is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), twice a year, in January and April, and online only.

JEE MAINS 2020 first exam will be held in the month of January and then in the month of April. Paper 1 is for B.E/B.Tech admissions and Paper 2 is for B.Arch/B.Plan admissions. The exam will be held in multiple sessions of two shifts a day. The class 12th pass-out/appearing students are eligible to apply for JEE MAIN 2020.

JEE Main 2020 ELIGIBILITY:

  • Those candidates who have passed 12th exam in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020 can apply.

  • There is no age limit to apply for JEE MAINS 2020.

  • The candidate must have cleared 10+2 with the following subjects: Mathematics and Physics along with Chemistry or Biology or any other equivalent subject.

  • The candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th board exams or be in the top 20 percentile of different recognised boards.

  • For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks arJEE MAINS 2020 first exam will be held in the month of January and then in the month of April.e 65% in the 12th board exams.

JEE Main 2020 APPLICATION FORM:

  • Forms for the January session will be released in the first week of September 2019 and the second week of February 2020 for the April session.

  • The process of online registration will involve online filling of the application, uploading images, application fees payment and taking printout of the form.

  • The tentative last dates for submission of the online forms for the January session is last week of September 2019 and for the April session it is until first week of March 2020.

JEE EXAM PATTERN:

  • Paper 1 will have a total of 90 questions whereas Paper 2 will have 80 questions.

  • There will be multiple choice questions in both the papers, whereas paper 2 will have additional subjective drawing questions.

  • The candidates will be given three hours to complete their paper and the candidates with 40% disability will get an extra hour time for the completion of the paper.

  • Paper 1 is of total 360 marks and Paper 2 is 390 marks.

  • There is negative marking of 1 mark for every wrong answer.

MARKS DISTRIBUTION:

Paper 1

  • It consists of a total of 90 questions divided equally among the three subjects- Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (30 questions each).

  • Each question is of 4 marks making weightage of each section 120 marks and the total of 360 marks.

Paper 2

  • It consists of a total of 82 questions, 50 of Aptitude, 30 of Mathematics and 2 of Drawing.

  • Each question of the Aptitude and Mathematics section carries 4 marks each making a total of 220 marks whereas the Drawing section comprising of 2 questions is of 70 marks, hence making the total of the paper of 390 marks.
